Bordeaux startred brightly, dominating possession and running OGC Nice around without creating much in the way of chances. It was 15 minutes before the Girondins got a clear shot on goal, when Ui-Jo Hwang charged past Malang Sarr on the right flank, cut sharply into the box and fired off a snap strike with his left foot which ended up in the hands of the Nice keeper. Two minutes later, ex-Girondin Adam Ounas tested Benoît Costil with Nice's first effort of the game. The Girondins were the more enterprising of the two sides, with Toma Basic on particularly good form going forward. The breakthrough finally came when our No. 26 picked up the ball in his own half, dribbled three Nice defenders and delivered a superb ball for Nicolas De Préville. NDP waltzed past Walter Benitez to smash the ball into the open net: 1-0 to Bordeaux (21’). Bordeaux's joy was soon tempered when Pablo limped off injured and Vukasin Jovanovic took his place (29'). Nice's first real chance on goal fell to Adam Ounas, from a corner. His shot ricocheted off the crossbar (36’). The remainder of the first half played out without further incident, leaving Bordeaux 1-0 up at half time.  Referee Benoît Millot got the second half underway, and this time it was Nice's turn to dominate. They moved the ball around well in midfield, waiting patiently for an opening in the Bordeaux back line. That strategy paid off, when Alexis Claude-Maurice picked out Moussa Wague on the right and the winger fired in a cross for Adam Ounas, who smashed Nice level with a fine volley (1-1, 57’). This equaliser shocked the Girondins into action, and they began to throw themselves forward in the hope of regaining their advantage. Paulo Sousa made two changes, bringing on Rémi Oudin for Ruben Pardo (64’) and Josh Maja for Samuel Kalu. Josh Maja came within a whisker of scoring just a minute after walking on the pitch, but the Nice keeper just about stopped his shot (73’).  Bordeaux refused to give up, and Nicolas De Préville was denied a second goal by the woodwork (75'). In a breathless injury time scramble, Josh Maja headed over Benitez's bar from close range. Bordeaux worked hard and probably deserved more from this game, but by now their attention will already be focused on getting a result in Saint-Etienne next Sunday.
