The Girondins de Bordeaux are delighted to announce the arrival of Mickaëlla Cardia! The young striker has signed a three year contract which will keep her at the club until the end of the 2022-2023 season. Mickaëlla joins us from Marseille, where she was born on 16 March 2000. She started out with a local neighbourhood team before signing for ASPC Trois Cités, where her performances soon caught the eye of Olympique Marseille. Mickaëlla moved to OM in 2015-2016, joining the U19s for a spell before making her first team debut in D2. The Marseillaises won the league that season, earning promotion to D1. The following year she featured in 17 matches (scoring 1 goal), but could not prevent Marseille's relegation. Their spell in D2 was to be short-lived, as they were promoted again the following season after a season in which Mickaëlla was a fixture of the team (17 matches, 4 goals). Last year she made 11 appearances for Marseille, scoring 2 goals and taking her career total to 49 games and 9 goals. In the meantime, she has also racked up considerable experience at the international level. Having represented France since U16 level, Mickaëlla Cardia now has 33 caps and 11 goals with Les Bleues. She was a key part of the France U17 squad for the last Euros. Cardia is a naturally gifted forward with bags of speed, power and technique, making her one of France's brightest young footballing talents. Having only just turned 20, she also has immense potential for the future. The club is delighted to have secured Mickaëlla's signature, and we hope that she will thrive here in Bordeaux. Bienvenue Mickaëlla !
