What a match! Stade Brestois have a reputation for playing stylish football, and that was on full display tonight. Both teams threw themselves into this game, but despite playing the last twenty minutes with a numerical advantage Bordeaux came away with just one point.   And yet, the Girondins had taken an early lead in just the 10th minute when Ui-Jo Hwang connected with a cross from Nicolas De Préville to leave Brest keeper Larsonneur stranded. A bright start for Bordeaux, but the rest of the match was not to be plain sailing.   Cardonna had three chances for the host, all of which missed the target (17’, 37’, 40’). And when referee Mr. Delajod awarded Brest a penalty, Battocchio fired it straight at Benoît Costil (42’).  1-0 Bordeaux at the break.   The Girondins were unable to extend their lead after the break, with Nicolas De Préville placing a shot into Larsonneur's gloves (49’) and Ui-Jo Hwang rattling another off the post (50’). Autret and Mendy had fleeting chances for Brest which didn't amount to much (51’ & 57’). The indefatigable Nicolas De Préville had another shot stopped before newcomer Ruben Pardo made his Girondins debut just after the hour mark.   When Castelletto saw red for a foul on Yacine Adli, the Girondins were convinced that things were finally going their way. But the combative hosts had other ideas... Toma Basic had a powerful shot turned away by Larsonneur, who was on excellent form this evening (71’). Bordeaux were running out of ideas. Disaster struck in the 80th minute, when Loris Benito attempted to clear Duverne's header but ended up putting the ball in his own net (1-1). The Girondins suffered through the final ten minutes, and in the end Brest deserved their share of the points after their battling performance.
