An Official Statement from the Club

King Street and the Club's directors would like to take this opportunity to reassure all of the Girondins' stakeholders, employees, players, supporters and institutions of their long-term commitment to this football club. They would also like to thank GACP for their contribution over the first year of this project. GACP has reached a deal with King Street in the best interests of the Club, and wishes the FC Girondins de Bordeaux every possible success in the future. This new structure will guarantee the stability of the FC Girondins de Bordeaux, enabling the club to continue to pursue its ambitious goals. King Street would also like to reiterate its total confidence in Frédéric Longuépée, who will now become the club's President and Managing Director. Continuing the project launched by the takeover in 2018, Frédéric Longuépée will be responsible for continuing to develop the strategy put in place by the owners, locally and internationally, in keeping with the Club's core values.  Our first objective is to ensure that the Girondins de Bordeaux regularly finish in the top spots of L1, qualifying for European competition. We also hope to forge closer bonds with the club's supporter, rediscovering a sense of excitement and an atmosphere which will light up the stadium for all of our home games, propelling the team to achieve the best possible results.  Frédéric Longuépée, President of the FC Girondins de Bordeaux adds: "The management, the directors, the shareholders, the players and the employees of this Club are all united behind an ambitious project to redynamise our local connections while also developing internationally. The backing of our supporters, and especially the Ultras, is an essential part of that project. They are part of the soul of our Club, which makes them very important to us. They support and inspire the team in good times and bad. Of course, we remain totally open to establishing a better dialogue with the fans." King Street has also reiterated its support for Eduardo Macia who has been implementing the club's sporting strategy, as well as first team coach Paulo Sousa and his staff, who have made such a strong start to the 2019-2020 season.

Founded in 1881, FC Girondins de Bordeaux is one of the oldest clubs in the French top flight. It is also one of the most prestigious football clubs in France and in Europe. The club has won many honours, including 6 French league titles, 4 Coupes de France and 3 league cups. A trophy cabinet which is one of the most well-stocked in French footballing history. With 36 seasons of European football to our name, the FC Girondins de Bordeaux is a true footballing institution of international standing. The club has always been committed to bringing players through from the youth teams to the very top level as professionals, embodying the history, values and identity of the iconic blue and white jersey. Some of the biggest names in the game have made history with the Girondins de Bordeaux: Alain Giresse, Patrick Battiston, Zinédine Zidane, Bixente Lizarazu…
