A Xmas gift from the Girondines [1-4]

Things got off to an inauspicious start for Bordeaux when Claire Lavogez limped off in tears in the 4th minute, victim of an extremely violent tackle. Fortunately for the Girondines, Claire was back a few minutes later. Very fortunately, since within seconds the French international scored Bordeaux's first goal with the first chance of the game! (1-0; 7')! She almost doubled that lead a few minutes later, but her shot flew just wide of the mark.  Inès Jauréna's shot did end up in the net, but the offside flag was raised (12'). Bordeaux were utterly dominant, with relentless attacks from the likes of Ouleymata Sarr, Khadija Shaw, Viviane Asseyi and Claire Lavogez (20', 22', 31', 33').  Marseille almost snuck in an equaliser against the run of play, but the effort rebounded off Romane Bruneau's post (45+1'). Bordeaux were back on the attack after the break, but Claire Lavogez again narrowly missed the target (48'). She then made way for fresh legs in the form of Ghoutia Karchouni. Eventually the pressure was just too much for the hosts to bear, and when the OM keeper managed to push away Khadija Shaw's shot Ouleymata Sarr snapped up the rebound to put the Girondines two goals clear (2-0, 57'). Marseille looked deflated, and ten minutes later Sarr struck again to make it 3-0 (67'). The Girondines thought they'd scored again in the 69th minute, but were denied by a very strange offside decision. Pedro Martinez Losa decided the time was right for a few more changes, sending on Maëlle Garbino and Julie Thibaud. The Bordelaises were making the most of the free space left by Marseille, but couldn't quite find the net. On the contrary, the hosts managed to pull one back with a header from Maëva Salomon (3-1, 76'). But that resurgence didn't last long: Viviane Asseyi scored Bordeaux's fourth goal and her own ninth of the season (4-1, 79'). Another dominant performance from the Girondines, ending 2019 with a fifth consecutive victory and cementing their place in the top three of D1. Bravo !
