The Girondins started brightly, dominating possession but failing to create much in the way of chances. Nice's high defensive line left little room for creativity in midfield, but the hosts themselves didn't manage a shot on goal until the 27th minute. But one shot is sometimes all it takes... Atal fired in a promising cross from the right, with Lees-Melou waiting in the middle. Benoît Costil was left standing. Nice were ahead, from their only shot of the game so far (1-0). Bordeaux were stung and looked to hit back immediately, with both Aurélien Tchouaméni (39’) and Jimmy Briand (40’) testing Nice keeper Benitez. With half-time fast approaching the Girondins kept piling on the pressure, and both Nicolas de Préville (42’) and Jimmy Briand (45’) missed the target with headed efforts. Nice had one more chance, which fell to Dolberg (29’), but other than that the Girondins had nothing to worry about at the back. Still; the Aiglons were ahead at the break (1-0). Shortly after the break, Nsoki pulled down François Kamano inside the box and gifted Bordeaux a penalty. Benitez went the right way, but Jimmy Briand's shot was perfectly place just inside the post (1-1 ; 50’). The Girondins held on tight for the Nice backlash, as Atal failed to beat Benoît Costil from a tight angle (69’). Substitute Maolida also tested Costil, and when the keeper boxed the ball into the path of Atal the latter's header was wide of the mark (81’). Bordeaux began to ran out of ideas as fatigue took hold, and Benitez held firm in the Nice goal. Patrick Vieira's side attempted a late push, with Atal leading the way, but Laurent Koscielny stopped him dead with a decisive tackle (86’). One more late shot from Josh Maja came to nothing (83'), and the Girondins left the Allianz Riviera with just the one point to show for their efforts (1-1).
