Hwang Ui-Jo strikes again! His curling, right-footed shot beat Lafont and bounced off the inside of the post to bury itself in the back of the net. The Korean ace exploded with joy. And rightly so: Bordeaux were two goals clear (56'). A scoreline which reflected their dominance in this historic derby. Twenty minutes earlier François Kamano, connecting with a clever pass from Hwang Ui-Jo, had fired Bordeaux into the lead from close range (36'). Funnily enough this first goal came somewhat against the run of play, and shortly afterwards Benoît Costil was forced into action again by Yoan (44'). The Canaries had already hit the woodwork once (32').  In the final minutes of the game, Benoît Costil pulled off a wonderfully acrobatic save to keep his clean sheet intact. On a less positive note, Pablo limped off injured (85'). Paulo Sousa had already made his three changes, leaving Bordeaux to see out the game with ten men. The Girondins came out on top in this first Atlantic Derby of the season, thanks to a solid team performance. The players had their names translated into Korean on their matchday shirts, for a game which was being broadcast live in South Korea. And, true to form, it was Korean goalscorer Hwang Ui-Jo who stepped up to win the game for the Girondins. Bravo Messieurs !
