Bordeaux travelled to Lille this afternoon for a stern test against one of the top sides in Ligue 1. LOSC rapidly stamped their authority on the game, stifling the Bordeaux midfield. Despite a lack of clear chances on goal the home side were dominant all over the field. That pressure finally paid off when Benjamin André picked up the ball on the edge of the box and fired a curling shot past Benoît Costil to put Lille into the lead (22', 1-0). The score remained that way until the break, with Bordeaux still struggling under the relentless attacking pressure. After the break the Girondins finally saw a bit more of the ball, as Lille slowed down and began to leave a few gaps that Bordeaux could exploit. Nevertheless it was the hosts who scored again, with Celik winning a penalty and Yacizi slotting it home (62’, 2-0). Bordeaux never let their heads go down, and both Josh Maja (82’) and Samuel Kalu (88’) had decent chances late on. But all that attacking left space at the back, and a goal from Remy finally put the game beyond the Girondins' reach in the dying seconds (3-0, 90+1’). A tough afternoon for the Girondins, who struggled to settle into this game against a well-drilled, ruthless Lille side.
