This was without a doubt the biggest match of the weekend in D1. The Girondines travelled up to Paris to face PSG, with both sides still holding a 100% record after their first 3 matches. The Girondines struggle to settle into the game in the first half, with the hosts dominating possession. But still, the Parisiennes created little in the way of attacking chances and the possession gradually began to even out. The first twenty minutes were relatively calm, but after that the chances began to pile up for both sides. Khadija Shaw came close with two decent shots (26’, 38’), while at the other end Julie Thibaud pulled off a series of fine saves (23’, 33’, 40’). With hugely unlucky timing, the Girondines let their guard down just before the break and conceded two goals in quick succession: one for Katoto (41’, 1-0) and another for Geyoro (43’, 2-0). The second half was a somewhat scrappy affair, with both sides struggling to play the attacking football we have come to expect from them. Ultimately PSG sealed the win from the penalty spot after a foul on Kathellen Sousa. Nadim slammed it home without hesitation, putting the hosts 3-0 clear (70’). The Girondines never stopped pushing forward, but the margin was too big. Apart from those nightmare three minutes at the end of the first half, the Girondines were a worthy match for PSG and will be disappointed with this result. Bordeaux now find themselves in fourth place in the league, with their next game a home tie with Guingamp on 13th October.
