Girondins narrowly beaten by Genoa [2-3]

By the time the Virage Sud decided to up sticks and take their songs to the East Stand, Bordeaux were 3-2 down. And yet, even in defeat, Paulo Sousa's men never stopped working and creating.      The Italians opened the score in the 23rd minute, when Pinamonti seized on a defensive error to put the visitors ahead (0-1). The Girondins remained focused and positive, even when Genoa doubled the lead courtesy of Kouane (35', 0-2). Hwang Ui-Jo quickly pulled one back with a superb strike! (36', 1-2)       Nicolas De Préville levelled the scores with an equally excellent goal just before the hour (58', 2-2). The Girondins looked to be back in business. David Cardoso, subbed on in the 60th minute, pulled off an absolutely incredible save to keep the scores level. Close ! Things were really hotting up now, much like the Bordeaux summer weather!     In the 81st minute, Hiljemark snatched a winner for the visitors (2-3).
