The teams took to the field in the stifling summer heat - the EA Ligue 1 Games have certainly provided a trying physical challenge, perfect for pre-season preparations.  Most of the early action took place on the Girondins's right wing, including the first chances on goal. In the seventh minute, Aurélien Tchouaméni picked out Enock Kwateng in the box and the newcomer went down to win a penalty. Nicolas de Préville slotted home coolly to put the Girondins ahead (0-1, 7').  The Girondins continued to dominate the first half, creating two major chances but failing to make them count. Josh Maja came close when he connected with a well-placed long ball, (22') just before Nicolas de Préville took a run at the Montpellier defence (24').  The Girondins should have been ahead at the break, but Montpellier nicked a penalty in injury time (45'+1) and Savanier levelled the scores (1-1).  After the break, Nicolas de Préville put Bordeaux back in front with a sublime free kick curled inside the front post (1-2, 54'). Montpellier had various chances to score, but Gaëtan Poussin pulled off two excellent saves (58', 59'). There were more clear chances on goal for Ui- Jo Hwang (75') and Jimmy Briand (90'), but the game ended 2-1. The Girondins finished third in the EA Ligue 1 Games, rounding off their American tour with a welcome victory.
