The Girondins de Bordeaux can now officially confirm the departure of Zaydou Youssouf to AS Saint-Etienne. Les Verts finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season, qualifying for the UEFA Europa League. Born in Bordeaux on 11th July 1999, Zaydou Youssouf started out with C.M.O Bassens. In 2008, at the tender age of 9, he joined the Girondins de Bordeaux. Over the past ten years he has risen through the club's youth ranks to join the first team squad. The club's coaches have always praised his great maturity. The crowning achievement of his stint in the Academy was undoubtedly winning the U19 French league in 2016-2017, qualifying for the UEFA Youth League. That same yea he also reached the Coupe d’Aquitaine final with the reserves. Zaydou joined the first team squad in 2016-2017, with coach Jocelyn Gourvennec handing him his full debut against Bastia. He then made his first top flight start against Lille. Despite a knee injury in mid-season, he recovered to feature heavily in the late season run-in. The Girondins would like to wish Zaydou the best of luck for the future as his career takes a new direction with Les Verts.
