Victory at last [0-1] !

Finally, a much-needed victory to finish the season on a high note! In the 19th minute of play, Younousse Sankharé drilled in a header to put Bordeaux ahead. The Girondins had been in control of this game since the get-go, dominating possession throughout the first half.   In his first L1 appearance, Gaëtan Poussin put in a solid performance. The young goalkeeper pulled off several fine saves to deny Crivelli among others (22’ and 38’). Deminguet came close with a powerful drive, but couldn't quite keep it on target (28’). There was an unplanned substitution just before the break, with Igor Lewczuk coming on for the injured Pablo.     Things picked up where they left off after the break, as Bordeaux continued to dominate. The Girondins were solid and well-organised, while Caen (almost) never looked like scoring. Bordeaux saw out the rest of the game without any serious trouble.   The Girondin' final game of the 2018/19 season ended in victory - the last act in a season full of ups and downs, moments of disappointment and glimmers of hope for the future.
