Bordeaux caught out by Angers (0-1)

The Girondins started brightly, with Paulo Sousa's side dominating possession and creating the first clear chance on goal After some fluid build-up play, Nicolas De Préville charged into the visitors' box only to see the ball snatched away from him by a last-gasp tackle (10'). Against the run of play, Bahoken put Angers ahead just before half-time (41'). Tait fired in the cross for the striker to slot into the far corner, leaving Benoît Costil stranded (0-1). Bahoken almost made it two shortly after the break, narrowly missing the target to leave the Girondins with at least some hope of getting back into this game (51'). Bordeaux pushed hard for an equaliser, with Maxime Poundjé picking out Yassine Benrahou at the back post - ultimately the youngster's header lacked power (55'). Bordeaux kept on pushing, but despite a succession of attacking substitutions they just could not find the goal. Angers put in a solid performance this evening. The Girondins need to do much better.
