And yet, it all started so well... Bordeaux took the lead in the 13th minute courtesy of a goal from Josh Maja. The striker connected with an expertly-placed ball from Youssouf Sabaly, slotting home with the inside of his foot for his first professional goal with the Girondins (0-1). But Nîmes refused to give up so easily, and a handball by Jules Koundé inside the box provided a perfect opportunity to level the scores (16'). Savanier chipped a cheeky panenka past Costil to cancel out the Girondins' early advantage (1-1).  Luck was clearly not on Bordeaux's side this afternoon: they hit the woodwork twice before half time. First Nicolas De Préville rattled a free kick off the left post (19'), then Otavio smashed a shot into the same pesky upright (39'). Things took a turn for the worse in the second half. Benoît Costil blocked a shot from Savanier but conceded a corner (63'). Savanier himself took it, floating the ball onto the waiting head of Ripart for a goal which put the hosts in front (2-1).  That was the end of that: Bordeaux now desperately need to make up for lost time with a strong performance against Lyon.
