The Girondins de Bordeaux are delighted to announce the arrival of Eduardo MACIA as our new Director of Football. As a key member of the executive team, Eduardo MACIA will assume full responsibility for guiding the club's sporting strategy, covering everything from recruitment to supervising the coaching and management of the Academy, the Ladies team and the first team. Eduardo MACIA was born on 7th May 1974 in Valencia, where he worked as a scout from 1995 until 2006, rising to become head of recruitment. He then took on the same post at Liverpool from 2008 to 2011, Fiorentina from 2011 to 2015 and Real Betis from 2015 to 2016, before serving as head of recruitment at  Leicester from 2016 until now. The challenge Eduardo has been set by our new shareholders is to get the Girondins back at the top end of our various leagues, and recover our status as regular European contenders. More broadly, he has been charged with creating the necessary conditions for the brightest young talent to flourish at our Academy and go on to the top level, as well as nurturing a style of play more in keeping with the club's historic identity and the expectations of our fans and partners. The club would also like to take this opportunity to confirm our total faith in the work of Ulrich RAME, who will retain his strategic role under the aegis of Eduardo MACIA.
