The two sides took to the field at Washington Spirit in blazing spring sunshine, to the strains of the national anthems. Jérôme Dauba had made his intentions for this game clear in his pre-match press conference: he was counting on the Girondines to play to their strengths, prioritising free-flowing, attacking football.     Decked out in the Bordeaux third kit, a hommage to the epic cup run of 1996, the Girondines suffered somewhat in the first half but still held on as best they could. Erin Nayler did her utmost to keep the Americans at bay (with a little help from the woodwork on occasion). Things took an unexpected turn in the 35th minute when Chloé Bornes scored a very unlucky own goal, leaving the Girondines with some serious catching up to do.     Bordeaux returned for the second half with a renewed sense of purpose, and did a much better job of controlling the game. The Spirit's chances became few and far between, as the Girondines laid siege to their hosts' goal instead. Claire Lavogez got the equalizer with a sweetly-hit shot early in the second half (55'), then Viviane Asseyi put Bordeaux in front from the penalty spot (77'). In the final minutes of the game, Asseyi popped up to finish the job with a spectacular lob (90').  A solid performance and an excellent result for the Girondines, capping off a successful tour of the USA. Congratulations Ladies !
