Another defeat in Strasbourg [3-2]

When Jimmy Briand slammed the ball past Kamara and into the back of the net, the clock stood at 82 minutes. Game on! But when the final whistle went, those 11 minutes of madness earlier in the second half turned out to be decisive.     Ajorque (49’) and Mothiba (55’ and 60’) took Strasbourg from 1 goal down to 2 goals clear in a frantic spell just after the break. The Girondins spent the rest of the match trying to recover, but never quite managed it. And yet, and yet... in the first half Bordeaux had looked solid and well-organised.     The second half put paid to the Girondins' cup hopes for another season, cancelling out Younousse Sankharé's early goal (14’). Bordeaux crash out of the League Cup, on a cold night in Strasbourg.
