For Bordeaux to qualify for the knock-out stages of the Europa League they needed to win tonight - but they also needed Zenit Saint Petersburg to beat Slavia Prague. The Girondins kept up their end of the bargain; Zenit, unfortunately for us, did not. A moment of inspiration from substitute Yann Karamoh saw him skip past two players and fire in a cross which Jimmy Briand slotted home with a deft Madjer chip (74').  Things had got off to a very slow start, with little in the way of attacking action from either side in the first half. FC Copenhagen dominated possession and eventually started to push forward, but Pablo and Jules Koundé kept the hosts on a tight leash. And when they were finally beaten, the woodwork stepped in to save the day: FCK twice hit the post, once with a shot from N'doye just before the break (45') and again with Skov's 70th minute effort. After the Bordeaux goal the game settled back into a halting rhythm, with Benoît Costil producing one final save to deny Nicolaj Thomsen and preserve the lead in the last few minutes of the game.
