Corps de texte
Both teams came out firing on all cylinders, but it was Rennes who snatched the lead in the 12th minute. Benjamin André charged into the box to connect with a corner and head the ball into the back of the net (1-0). Just four minutes later,  Bensebaini seized upon another corner to double the hosts' lead (2-0). With barely fifteen minutes played Bordeaux found themselves with a mountain to climb, and the physical toll of their Europa League heroics was beginning to show. Things did not get easier when Pablo limped off injured in the 18th minute, replaced by Igor Lewczuk (18’).  Rennes came within a whisker of scoring a third goal on several occasions, with both Bourigeaud (19') and Siebatcheu (26') drawing good saves from Benoît Costil. The Girondins' first sight of goal came in the 32nd minute when Sergi Palencia teed up Lukas Lerager for a volley which flew over the bar. François Kamano came close to pulling one back just before half time, but he hooked his shot wide (45’). Eric Bédouet's side looked re-energised and reorganised after the break, and a sweeping attacking movement ended with Jimmy Briand heading wide (50'). Rennes were soon back on the attack, but Siliki and Niang were both frustrated by the ever-reliable Benoît Costil (73' and 76'). The Bretons were happy to slow things down and see out the rest of the game, despite a huge chance for Bordeaux which Younousse Sankharé rattled off the left post (85'). The final score remained Rennes 2-0 Bordeaux.
