Bleuettes beaten in semi-final (1-0)

In the semi-final of the Women's U20 World Cup, Gilles Eyquem's side were knocked out by neighbours and old rivals Spain. Bordeaux's own Julie Thibaud captained the team, putting in a totally committed performance. But once Spain took the lead France were never able to recover, despite a penalty (saved by the Spanish keeper) and a red card for the Spaniards. No time to dwell on what could have been though: the girls have a third-place play-off to look forward to against England this Friday.
