Yesterday in Vannes, Gilles Eyquem's France U20 side played their first World Cup game against Ghana. France rapidly worked up a 3-0 lead, thanks in large part to a brace from ex-Girondine Emelyne Laurent. Ghana pulled one back in the second half thanks to a defensive error, but Parisian Sandy Baltimore sealed the victory late on (4-1). Julie Thibaud played the full 90 minutes in the heart of the French defence. Congratulations to the Bleuettes and @JulieThibaud for beating Ghana 4-1 in their first game of the U20 World Cup! — FCGB Féminines (@fcgbgirls) August 5, 2018 France will be back in action on Wednesday against New Zealand, whose opening game was a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Netherlands.
