The LFP yesterday announced the results of the call for bids on the broadcasting rights to France's Ligue 1. The sums involved make interesting reading for the league's teams. The total haul stands at 1.153 billion Euros per season for the period 2020 to 2024.
Canal+, the historic broadcaster of France's top flight, won none of the available packages. Rivals beIN SPORTS also lost several slots to newcomers Mediapro, a Spanish company who thus marked their entrance into the French market with a splash.

With two lots still to be bid on, it is highly likely that the overall total will rise over the coming weeks.
Bear in mind that this deal, and the corresponding windfall for clubs, come into effect for the 2020-2021 season. That means things will remain unchanged for the next two seasons.
