Gus Poyet - "Thanks to the players"

"I think the most important thing is that we got the job done. It's a special feeling. It was a strange atmosphere knowing that the players on the bench and the fans in the stands were keeping an eye on the Lyon game on their phones. I couldn't bear to watch. I didn't want to know the result while we were playing, but people did tell me. We have to thank the players first and the coaching staff second. The target for this season was Europe, and we've done it. Now it's time to relax and enjoy it. The turning point was Lille, that LOSC game changed the course of our season. But the match which really made us think it was possible was the win against Saint-Étienne. The players deserve to enjoy themselves, and make the most of this week. My summer plans have aleady changed, because I'm sticking around until Friday. Usually I like to take a break right away."
