Bang on the half hour mark, Bordeaux endured a major scare! It took a particularly gymnastic save from Benoît Costil to push Fulgini's shot wide for a corner. A moment which pretty well summed up the first 30 minutes: the Girondins were full of good intentions, but still looked uncomfortable. Traoré rattling the crossbar in the 2nd minute may have had something to do with that. It doesn't take much to upset the psychological balance of a game... In any case the Girondins were being made to work hard without ever finding an opening in the fluorescent yellow wall of the this well-drilled Angers defence.   Another near miss just before half time when Toko Ekambi curled his shot just outside Benoît Costil's right post (41’). Phew that was close! The Girondins threw everything they had into attack, looking to get a goal before the break. Angers keeper Butelle was on hand to ensure the game remained scoreless at the pause.   After the break, the Girondins monopolised possession and Youssouf Sabaly tested the visitors with a decent shot (54’). Gus Poyet made his first substitution, bringing off Nicolas De Préville for François Kamano (56’). Kamano was soon making himself a nuisance in attack, but his shot could not get the better of Butelle (61’). Bordeaux had the ball, but were unable to make it count. Martin Braithwaite came on to replace Gaëtan Laborde, and almost made an immediate and decisive impact on the game... only to see his shot rebound off the crossbar (75’).   The tension was almost unbearable as the last 15 minutes seem to drag on forever! Valentin Vada came on as a late substitution for Malcom (88’). François Kamano launched another probing run but his cross ended up in Butelle's arms. The Girondins pushed until the final whistle but came away with nothing to show for their efforts but a single, thoroughly unsatisfying point. Angers' defensive tactics got the better of Bordeaux tonight.
