Statement

The Girondins de Bordeaux are disappointed with the official ruling once again banning our supporters from travelling to watch our next match against Olympique de Marseille. The club remains convinced that keeping the away sections of our stadiums empty is not a viable solution: it is neither good for the game nor effective in terms of security. Our travelling fans will be missed, and our team will give it their all to get a result in spite of the absence of support. Despite our disappointment, we strongly encourage our supporters not to make the journey to Marseille, in order to avoid the risk of any further penalties but above all for their own safety. We will continue to work with Ligue 1, the public authorities and the supporters' associations to find a solution to this problem and get the away stands full and singing again. Football is supposed to be a popular, festive sport: it simply is not the same without its most passionate fans.
