The home side got proceedings underway, but from the opening seconds the Girondins pressed hard and left Thierry Laurey's men no time to settle into the game. Nicolas de Préville intercepted a poor clearance from Mangane and seemed to be through on goal, but his shot was pushed away by the keeper. Grimm tried to clear the lines for Strasbourg, but his clearance made it only as far as Younousse Sankharé, who coolly lobbed the keeper to put Bordeaux ahead. 1-0 to the Girondins, with just 3 minutes on the clock thanks to Sankharé's fifth league goal of the season. With just ten minutes played and a goal to the good, Gus Poyet was already on his feet and barking orders to his side. Strasbourg threw everything they had at the Bordeaux defence in search of a quick equaliser, but Youssouf Sabaly, Pablo, Jules Koundé and Maxime Poundjé looked comfortable and well-drilled at the back (15’). Nonetheless, Strasbourg were dominating possession and pushing forward at every opportunity. Martin Terrier tied his luck in the 21st minute, but put his shot a clear metre wide of Benoît Costil's goal. Things carried on in much the same way until half time, with the hosts unable to make their possession count.     Neither side made any changes during the break, but the Girondins returned to the pitch with a renewed sense of purpose.. Younousse Sankharé kept up the pressure on the Strasbourg defence, eventually winning a ball which he laid off for Nicolas De Préville. NDP spotted Gaëtan Laborde coming in from the right, teeing him up for a superbly-placed shot which left Kamara stranded. 2-0 to the Girondins (53’)! Second strike of the season for the Bordeaux boy, and second assist for Nicolas De Préville. Urged on by the 25,000-strong home crowd, Strasbourg refused to give up. Martin won a free kick on the edge of the box which left back Kenny Lala decided to take. His shot rattled off Benoît Costil's left post: luck certainly seemed to be on the Girondins' side tonight (63’).     Gus Poyet decided to freshen things up a bit, giving Gaëtan Laborde a well-deserved rest and bringing on new signing Martin Braithwaite for his Girondins debut. Nicolas De Préville also made way for fellow newcomer Paul Baysse (66’). Strasbourg also made a change, bringing on French striker Stéphane Bahoken as they looked to get something out of this game (70’). With 10 minutes left to play, François Kamano came on for Malcolm as the intensity began to subside. Both sides appeared to be cancelling each other out in midfield, attempting the occasional long ball without much success (80’).   Three minutes of added time did nothing to change the score line, as the Girondins continued their good run under Poyet and racked up their third consecutive league win. A victory which pushes Bordeaux up to 8th place in Ligue 1.
