Jérémy Toulalan terminates his contract

Jérémy Toulalan is no longer under contract with FC Girondins de Bordeaux. By mutual agreement, the club and the midfielder have terminated his contract. Jérémy was expected to stay with the club until the end of the season, but has decided to follow Jocelyn Gourvennec in leaving Bordeaux (see the club's official declaration). Having joined the club in the summer of 2016 from Monaco, Jérémy soon became an essential component of the Girondins squad. Throughout his first season in Bordeaux, he demonstrated his great talent and ability to read the game, always battling to win balls in midfield. Qualities which have served him well throughout a long career with Nantes, Lyon, Malaga and Monaco. A regular feature in the starting line-up, he played a major role in last year's European qualification, and also reached the league cup semi-final and Coupe de France quarter-final. Dropping back into defence at the start of this season, Jérémy took a while to adapt before coming into his own in this new role. In spite of criticism from certain quarters, he has behaved as a model professional at all times. Whatever Jérémy decides to do next, everybody here at the Club wishes him all the best. The image which will remain of him at Le Haillan is one of a first rate player, a great professional and a good man who was much-loved by all members of the Girondins staff.
