Super Sunday in Bordeaux!

Bordeaux-Marseille is always a special occasion: these two historic teams have faced each other more times than any other clubs in the league. The rivalry ignited by Claude Bez and Bernard Tapie in the 1980s still burns bright, and the last time Marseille won in Bordeaux was in October 1977, when Jocelyn Gourvennec was just 4 years old! A record which keeps getting better with age, like a fine Bordeaux wine. The Girondins come into this game desperate to turn things around, after successive defeats against Amiens (1-0), Monaco (0-2) and Rennes (1-0). OM's last game was a 5-0 demolition of Caen. To add a little extra spice, this weekend sees Bordeaux's Ultramarines supporters' club celebrating their 30th anniversary. Jocelyn Gourvennec will be without Serbian defender Vukasin Jovanovic, suspended after his yellow card against Monaco. Jules Koundé and Gaëtan Laborde are also out. OM boss Rudi Garcia will have to do without Brazilian midfielder Luis Gustavo. After three games without a goal, the Bordeaux front line of Malcom, Nicolas De Préville and Alexandre Mendy will be determined to score in this huge game. Meanwhile the defence will be focused on keeping out Marseille's top scorer, Florian Thauvin. With only two defeats in Ligue 1 this season, Marseille have got off to a good start. They have won 4 of their 6 away games, and the Girondins will need to be very careful indeed. Bordeaux have scored an average of 1.6 goals per game at home this season, with Marseille averaging 2 goals per away game. Nevertheless, OM have conceded 11 goals away from home. Bordeaux's strikers will need to exploit that weakness ruthlessly. Team spirit and collective commitment will be key to winning this game, not to mention the advantage of a rowdy home crowd. None of the players who will take to the pitch tomorrow evening were even born when Marseille last won in Bordeaux - and none of the Girondins will want to see that astonishing record come to an end.
