The Girondins de Bordeaux can officially confirm the transfer of Mauro Arambarri to Club Atlético Boston River. A product of the Defensor Sporting Club youth academy, Mauro made a name for himself in the Uruguayan top division in 2013, at the tender age of 18. Within two seasons he had become an experienced pro, with 44 appearances in the Primera División and 8 in the Copa Sudamericana.  He joined Bordeaux in January 2016 and made his debut a few days later against Lyon. Coach Willy Sagnol selected him five times for Ligue 1 games.  Mauro made 6 appearances in all competitions last season (2016-2017) under new manager Jocelyn Gourvennec. He provided the assist for Jaroslav Plasil's  goal against Caen on 7th February of this year (0-4).  Already in 2017-2018, the midfielder has added a Europa League appearance to his CV by starting the first leg of the qualifier with Videoton, his first experience of European football.  The young Uruguayan has played in a total of 12 matches for the Girondins (in all competitions).  After 18 months here in Bordeaux, Mauro has decided to return to Uruguay in order to get more first-team football and express his passion for the game where he belongs, on the pitch. We wish him all the best for the rest of his career.
