First day of the 2017/2018 season!

Bordeaux travel to Angers for their first league game of the 2017-2018 season. The Girondins will be keen to start the year off right with three points at Stade Raymond Kopa.   A busy pre-season for both teams  Angers are ready to hit the ground running after a busy pre-season. Since losing (2-0) to US Orléans, Stéphane Moulin’s side have played four more matches. After a draw (2-2) with Cholet and three 1-0 victories, SCO are on a roll. The Girondins, meanwhile, were impressive in their pre-season friendlies and have already been in competitive action in the preliminary rounds of the UEFA Europa League. The second leg with Videoton ended with a disappointing 1-0 defeat, and after crashing out of Europe the boys in blue will be more determined than ever to get off to a good start in the league.  Fresh faces For Bordeaux’s first Conforama Ligue 1 game of the 2017-2018 season, there may well be some unfamiliar faces on the pitch in Angers. Among others, new signing Lukas Lerager is set to make his Ligue 1 debut. There should also be some fresh faces for SCO, including Baptiste Guillaume, signed from Lille after a strong season on loan with Strasbourg. Both teams have made numerous changes over the summer, with a combined total of 28 players leaving Angers and Bordeaux since the transfer window opened. So far Angers have welcomed 10 new arrivals, with 6 players joining the Girondins. Angers, always a tough game!  The Girondins need to be very wary of this Angers side. In their last five encounters in all competitions, Angers have emerged victorious on three occasions. Bordeaux have won just one of those games (in the Coupe de France).
