girondins.com: Hi Mauro. Pre-season is done and dusted, how do you feel? Mauro Arambarri: Great! We've been playing a lot, that's helped to boost my confidence. I feel good. girondins.com: You've been playing in France for 18 months now. What are the differences with football in Uruguay? Mauro Arambarri: The game here is more dynamic, more direct. You need to move quickly with the ball. In Uruguay the pace is slower, you get more space. In France the pressure is higher. When you get the ball you barely have time to think, which didn't help when I was trying to adapt to playing here. But now I feel comfortable, I'm more confident on the field. And I feel like my team-mates trust me too, I'm making progress every day. [...] there's a confidence in the team. girondins.com: After more than a year in Bordeaux, how are you adapting to this new environment? Mauro Arambarri: Ever since my first months in Bordeaux, I've really loved the city and the people. I'm very happy here, it's a great place to live. I want to keep on making progress here, and I think if I work hard I can do it.   girondins.com: For the first match of the season, the UEFA Europa League qualifier, Jocelyn Gourvennec started you in midfield. How did that feel? Mauro Arambarri: It felt good. The coach has put his trust in me, I wanted to repay that trust. That meant putting in a good performance and getting a good result. We had a good game, and the end result went in our favour. But we could have scored one or two more, and that would have made the return trip to Hungary more relaxing. But that's the nature of football, and obviously if you don't score your chances you make life harder for yourself. But there's a confidence in the team, and we're all hoping to get that qualification.   [...] it's a big deal for any player. girondins.com: What needs to be done to get past Videoton? Mauro Arambarri: I think the main thing is to not concede. That's priority number one. And with the players we have up front, we can make the difference and score. girondins.com: You've played in a number of tournaments with the Uruguay U21 team. With the World Cup in Russia coming up next year, do you have any objectives for the season? Mauro Arambarri: I think it's a big deal for any player. I just want to keep on progressing and if I do then I think I'll have a chance. I'm working hard to earn that call-up, and I hope it'll come one day. We'll see. Thanks Mauro !
