European debuts

The Girondins' first official engagement of the season is a two-leg tie with Videoton FC in the third round of qualifying for the UEFA Europa League. An opportunity for several Bordeaux players to discover European competition for the first time. Youssouf Sabaly, Mauro Arambarri, Lukas Lerager, Malcom and François Kamano, all in the starting eleven, made their European debut last Thursday. Second-half sub Alexandre Mendy also made his bow in the contest. The two wingers both racked up their first assists of the season, teeing up double goalscorer Younousse Sankharé.
