Lukas Lerager signs up for 4 years

Lukas Lerager is officially a Bordeaux player! The midfielder has successfully completed his medical and signed a four-year contract which will keep him with the club until June 2021. Born on 12th July 1993 in Gladsaxe (Denmark), Lukas Lerager (24) is a multi-talented midfielder and Danish international. A product of the Akademisk Boldklub Copenhagen youth academy, he started his professional career with four appearances for his boyhood club in the 2010-2011 season. He soon established himself as a regular fixture in the starting eleven, playing two full seasons in the Danish second division and drawing the attention of various top-flight clubs. Ahead of the 2013-2014 season, Lukas made the move to Viborg FF where he played 19, 17 and 31 matches in the ensuing three seasons! Singled out as one of Danish football's brightest young stars, he left his homeland in 2015-2016 to sign with Belgian side Zulte Waregem. In Belgium, Lukas' career stepped up a gear. He walked straight into the starting line-up at Waregem, playing 39 games in the Jupiler Pro League. Able to switch at will between the roles of playmaker and defensive lynchpin, Lukas' aerial abilities helped him score 6 goals last season. He was also a big presence in the Coupe de Belgique, which Zulte Waregem won after a tense penalty shoot-out with Ostend! His steady progress has not gone unnoticed back in Denmark, and Lukas won his first full international cap earlier this summer in a friendly match against Germany (1-1). A natural progression since he has already played for Denmark at youth level (16 caps).
