The Girondins celebrated a 3-0 victory over Dijon this afternoon at the Matmut ATLANTIQUE. Rémi Oudin (12’), Samuel Kalu (29’) and Toma Basic (89’) got the goals in a game which Bordeaux dominated with very little trouble. As the final whistle went, the Girondins punched the air: a first home victory of the season! And the 3-0 scoreline was an accurate reflection of this game, a one-sided affair decided by an assured performance from the Girondins. In just the 9th minute, Josh Maja set the tone when he forced a good save from Dijon keeper Allagbé. Barely three minutes later Rémi Oudin scored Bordeaux’s first from a free kick on the right-hand side of the box (12’, 1-0). The Girondins pushed forward looking for a second straight away, but both Josh Maja and Toma Basic had shots turned away by the Dijon keeper.

The break finally came courtesy of Samuel Kalu. Just before the half-hour mark, Kalu launched a piercing solo run through the Dijon defence. He dribbled elegantly around Allagbé before curling a neat little shot into the back of the net (29’, 2-0). Just before half-time, Benoît Costil produced an excellent save to deny Baldé and maintain the Girondins’ two-goal lead (44’).

After the break the visitors began to see a bit more of the ball. But Toma Basic and Nicolas De Préville both had shots on goal (49’ and 51’) before Basic, chief tormentor of Dijon this afternoon, returned for another crack which forced an incredible save from Allagbé (52’). Jean-Louis Gasset decided to make a few changes, sending on Hwang Ui-Jo and Jimmy Briand for Rémi Oudin and Josh Maja (63’). Ten minutes later it was time for Dilane Bakwa and Mehdi Zerkane to get some match experience, replacing Samuel Kalu and Nicolas De Préville (75’). The Girondins turned up the pace in the final fifteen minutes, opening up new spaces between the Dijon lines and exploiting them ruthlessly. Dilane Bakwa came close with a powerful shot (81’). Paul Baysse came on as a late sub for Yacine Adli (86’). In the final minutes Bordeaux capped off a dominant performance with a third goal. The movement started with Mehdi Zerkane, who teed up Dilane Bakwa. Allagbé parried Bakwa’s shot, but only as far as Toma Basic who smashed the ball home (89’, 3-0). A well-deserved win for Bordeaux, and a first home victory of the season so far. Three crucial points before the players head off for the international break.
