As the Girondins prepare to travel to Monaco's Stade Louis II, we take a quick look at our opponents' recent form. It must be said that Niko Kovać's side are not on a good run in Ligue 1. They haven't won in their last three games, despite the best efforts of lead goalscorer Wissam Ben Yedder, who has already found the net 5 times this season. Monaco are currently in 12th place in the league, just one point above the Girondins. Monaco's attack may be formidable, but their defence is far from watertight: they have conceded 13 goals this season, with only four teams having let in more.

Things are looking a lot better for the Girondins: Jean-Louis Gasset's side boast one of the best defensive records in Ligue 1, with only 5 goals conceded. Benoit Costil is ably assisted by a solid and well-drilled back line. And it shows: Bordeaux has kept the most clean sheets of any team in the five major European leagues so far this season (six clean sheets).   The key to the game will be for the Girondins to score first this Sunday. This season, the Girondins have won every game in which they scored first. But they will have their work cut out this week, since Monaco have yet to lose at home. Nevertheless, Bordeaux come into this game with two wins in their last three games. Bear in mind that Monaco have failed to win in their last three league meetings with Bordeaux (1 draw, 2 victories for the Girondins) and you have all the ingredients for a positive result!  Allez Bordeaux !
