And yet, it was Dijon who scored first. In the 5th minute Rose Lavaud rattled a shot off the crossbar, and the ball rebounded to Léa Declercq on the edge of the box. Her shot took a slight deflection, just enough to get the better of Anna Moorhouse. The Girondines responded in kind six minutes later, when Ghoutia Karchouni won a free-kick on the edge of the box. Claire Lavogez stepped up and produced a sublime, curling effort which beat Dijon keeper Mylène Chavas and lodged itself in the top right corner (11’).

With the game still wide open, Lena Goetsch picked up two yellow cards in the space of two minutes, the second for a clear foul on Claire Lavogez (32’). Dijon would have to play the remaining 60 minutes with 10 women, and Bordeaux rapidly made their numerical advantage felt. Still, Dijon held on as best they could and the score was still 1-1 at the break.

With the sun shining down on the empty stands of Le Bouscat's Stade Sainte-Germaine, the Girondines returned to the pitch determined to wrap things up. Delphine Chatelin broke free down the left and centred for Ghoutia Karchouni, who pulled the ball back for the incoming Khadija Shaw: 2-1 Bordeaux (48’) ! Shaw almost got her second two minutes later, slamming a shot into the post (50’). She got it soon enough, when her shot took a deflection off a defender but still ended up in the back of the net. 3-1 after 68 minutes, Bordeaux were running away with this game!

Dijon keeper Mylène Chavas valiantly attempted to keep the visitors in the game, turning away shots from Claire Lavogez (64’) and Charlotte Bilbault (twice, 70’ and 79’). After Shaw eventually scored her third, she teed up Maëlle Garbino for the fifth and final Bordeaux goal (1 goal and 1 assist for the supersub). The Girondines very nearly got a sixth, but Garbino was denied by the woodwork. Game over: 5-1. Thanks to the unstoppable Khadija Shaw (3 goals, 1 assist) and an impeccable collective performance, the Girondines moved up (albeit provisionally) to fourth place in the league. Bravo les filles !
