Time is a relative concept, its perception can change and bend: in just three minutes, the Girondins lost it all at Stade Louis II. Between the 28th and 31st minutes, Bordeaux conceded three goals. Ben Yedder kicked things off from the penalty spot (28’ pen., 1-0), having already had a header disallowed by referee Mr. Buquet. Two minutes later Martins got Monaco's second (30’, 2-0). Volland then settled matters with a swift third (31’, 3-0).

It's never easy to recover from such a knock-out blow, and Jean-Louis Gasset seized the opportunity to make some changes. Hwang Ui-Jo, Rémi Oudin and Yacine Adli made way for Nicolas De Préville, Jimmy Briand and Medhi Zerkane. Martins almost got another goal early in the second half (55’), and tested Benoît Costil again a minute later (56’). Volland then scored the fourth and final goal of the match (58’, 4-0). There was nothing much else to report, aside from a late effort by Hatem Ben Arfa (83’).
