A few stats ahead of tonight's game

Tonight's game will mark the 117th meeting of the Girondins and Saint-Etienne: no two teams have played each other more often in the history of French football. Bordeaux are slightly ahead in the all-time records, with 43 victories to Les Verts' 41, with 32 draws making up the numbers.

The Girondins would be 6th in the league based on home results alone, with three wins, three draws and one loss. Jean-Louis Gasset's side also boast the best defence in L1 on home turf (having conceded just two goals). Saint-Etienne's away record is very different: 18th in the league, with just two draws and four defeats.

Les Verts have won just 3 of their last 16 matches in Bordeaux. Nevertheless, they did sneak a win last season at the Matmut ATLANTIQUE (0-1). A game which the Girondins dominated, before being robbed by a stoppage-time penalty.

Claude Puel's side have lost eight times away from home in 2020, the worst record in the top flight.

The striker has endured a poor run of form lately, failing to score in the last 11 matches and seemingly abandoned by the confidence and quality of last season. But Bordeaux will not have forgotten the two goals he scored against us last season, netting both the decisive penalty at the Matmut (0-1) and a frustrating equaliser back in St Etienne (1-1).
