Jean-Michaël's first port of call in Europe was Portugal, where he signed for FC Porto in 2012. After a year in the reserves, he began to make a name for himself the following season. He then moved to FC Paços de Ferreira, became a top-flight regular, discovered the UEFA Europa League and played almost 70 matches over two seasons (scoring 3 goals and providing 7 assists). These performances caught the eye of Nice, and he signed for the Aiglons in the summer of 2015. Seri was a revelation down on the Côte d'Azur, playing three full seasons including a fantastic 2016-2017 campaign in which he scored 7 goals and provided 10 assists in 34 appearances in Ligue 1, as Nice ended the season in third place.

After racking up 12 goals and 25 assists in 123 appearances, he left Nice for the bright lights of the Premier League. His first season with Fulham (2018-2019) was a success on a personal level, as he played 32 matches in the league. But Fulham were relegated, and Jean-Michaël was sent out on loan to Galatasaray SK. It was here that he made his UEFA Champions League debut (6 matches) during a full and successful season (37 matches, 2 goals, 4 assists). An Ivorian international since 2015, Jean-Michaël has 30 caps for the Elephants. He is a genuine "box to box" midfielder, a formidable tackler and a technically-gifted playmaker who will make a welcome addition to Bordeaux's attacking options. The Girondins de Bordeaux are delighted to welcome Jean-Michaël Seri. He will have some help settling in from former team-mates Hatem Ben Arfa and Paul Baysse, and of course the whole staff here at the club. We wish him every success with Bordeaux !
