Bordeaux overrun by LOSC [0-3]

The Girondins suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of league leaders Lille at the Matmut ATLANTIQUE this evening. Yazici (53'), Weah (65') and Lihadji (88') got the goals for the visitors, in spite of a spirited performance from Gasset's side. It all started so well, with a big strike from Rémi Oudin (17') to get the hostilities underway! A few minutes later, back at the other end of the pitch, Benoît Costil pulled off a fantastic save (23'). The dual of the goalkeepers continued when! Maignan produced an incredible stop to turn away a fantastic effort from Samuel Kalu (29'). Ui-Jo Hwang and Samuel Kalu both came close but narrowly missed the target (35' and 38'). Missed opportunities that the Girondins would soon come to rue...

Lille took this game by the scruff of the neck after the half-time break, with Yazici firing them into the lead (0-1, 53'). Twelve minutes later, Weah doubled that lead (0-2, 65'). Maignan produced another fine save to deny Ui-Jo Hwang (70'), and Toma Basic's follow-up effort was wide of the mark. In the last fifteen minutes Maignan stopped a powerful shot from Hatem Ben Arfa (74'), and had a little help from the crossbar in keeping out Laurent Koscielny's header (85'). The Girondins clearly did not have luck on their side this evening. To cap it all off, Lihadji nicked a late third goal for the visitors (0-3, 88'). 

A heavy defeat for Bordeaux, in spite of a broadly positive performance. With a little more luck, and a less inspired goalkeeper between the posts for Lille, things might have been very different.
