After back-to-back defeats (Pacos Ferreira d. 2-1, Rio Ave FC d. 2-1), on 16 February CD Tondela faced bottom of the table Marítimo. Abdel started the game. After knocking in his first goal of the season in the previous game, Jhon Murillo doubled his tally against Marítimo inside the first half hour. The visitors swiftly equalised, but Mario González sealed victory with a second-half goal (52', 2-1). An intense match but a good result for Abdel and his team-mates.  Abdel was back in action against Braga this Sunday, but by the time he came on in the 50th minute Tondel were already trailing 4-0. Abdel and his team-mates never let their heads go down, and scored twice in ten minutes to reduce the scoreline to a more respectable 4-2. Abdel is now back in training, ahead of the home game against Gil Vicente (14th) on Sunday 28 February.

After beating Rouan last week (0-1), Villefranche faced league leaders Bastia. Alexandre started the game, putting in a strong defensive performance. Villefranche dominated the first half and took the lead courtesy of a half-volley from right back Rémi Bonenfant (45').  Bastia equalised shortly after half time (47') and Alexandre Lauray picked up a yellow card (54'). The scoreline remained unchanged (1-1), and Villefranche came away with a well-earned point from perhaps the hardest away trip of the season. Alexandre and co. are currently on an excellent run of form, with five wins and two draws from their last seven games. Their next game is against Boulogne, this Saturday 27 February at 17:00. The match against Red Star scheduled for Tuesday 23 has been postponed due to COVID-19 cases at the Parisian club.

Over Mandanda was named in the starting line-up against Vendée Herbiers Foot (VHF) in the Coupe de France. VHF scored early on and turned the screw with two more goals in the second half, putting an end to Laval's Coupe de France hopes.  So it's back to business in the National league, as Laval host Cholet this evening at 18:00. Three points would do Les Tango a world of good, giving them a little more breathing space in mid-table.
