The Girondines got the better of Dijon this afternoon in this rescheduled match (0-2). Bordeaux seized upon the chance to open up a gap with their nearest top-3 rivals, dominating this game throughout and easily getting the better of DFCO. Bordeaux dominated possession early on, and after Katja Snoeijs came close with a volley from the penalty spot (14’) it was Vanessa Gilles who fired the Girondines into the lead (19’). Bordeaux came very close to doubling that lead before half-time, with both Garbino (34’) and Snoeijs (42’) having shots stopped. But it was still 1 - 0 to the visitors as the two teams retired for the break. The second half was a little less tightly-controlled, with Bordeaux still looking good in attack but leaving a little too much space open at the back. Khadija Shaw came within a whisker of scoring on three occasions in very quick succession (58’, 59’, 61’). Our top scorer may not have found the net today, but she did provide the perfect assist for Katja Snoeijs to make it 2-0 (71’). Another solid victory for the Girondines, sending them 10 points clear of PFC in 4th place. Next game: Friday 12 March (18:45) for a crucial clash with the Parisiennes.
