Marking the big 100 with victory over Issy ! [1-0]

Bordeaux were on the attack right from the whistle, with Maëlle Garbino (2’) and Eve Perisset (7’) both testing the keeper. Then Maëlle Garbino charged through the middle, stalled and picked out Katja Snoeijs with a smart long pass. The Dutch international controlled the ball, danced past the keeper and tapped into the net 1-0 (12’).

Ghoutia Karchouni almost made it 2 in very similar circumstances barely a minute later, but this time the keeper got the better of the encounter. The Girondines dominated possession in this first half hour, but getting past Issy's back 5 was no easy matter. Inès Jauréna soon found a way, floating in a cross for Ghoutia Karchouni who smashed a volley towards goal... only for a defender to block it at the last moment. Vanessa Gilles picked up a card in the 24th minute, and the dynamic changed somewhat as the visitors finally began to push forward. Anna Moorhouse did well to stop a few shots from Issy's centre forward (26’, 38’), and in the 32nd minute, Vanessa Gilles snatched the ball away from a goal-bound adversary. Inès Jaurena did the same barely a minute later, robbing the centre forward of another chance on goal.

Bordeaux made one change at half time, with Julie Dufour making way for Claire Lavogez. The first chance of the second half came courtesy of Katja Snoeijs (51'), who launched a solo run against 3 defenders before firing a long shot over the bar. Katja was back again in the 61th minute, but the keeper got down well to stop her tight-angled effort. The Girondines kept on pushing but couldn't quite find the net. The breakthrough very nearly came in the 74th minute: after some good pressing work from Katja Snoeijs, Maëlle Garbino retrieved the ball and laid it off for the Dutch ace, who picked out Claire Lavogez. Claire pounced on the ball and managed to get a shot away, but Issy's keeper had it covered.

Ella Palis came on for Maëlle Garbino in the 76th minute. Bordeaux had a string of late opportunities to extend their lead (76’, 79’, 80’, 86’, 90’), but couldn't quite make them count. Some late good news came in the form of Malia Berkely's Bordeaux debut, when she came on as a late sub for Eve Perisset.
