Saint-Etienne away is never an easy game, and the Girondins were well beaten this afternoon [4-1]. The club's 2500th game in L1 started well, with Ui-Jo Hwang giving Bordeaux an early lead from the penalty spot (9'). Khazri then equalised (19' pen), put the hosts ahead (22') and put the game to bed (70', another penalty). Zaydou Youssouf added insult to injury late on (81').
A heavy defeat at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, and a disappointment which was clearly visible on the Girondins' faces at the final whistle.

After Ui-Jo's early penalty, it was ex-Girondin Wahbi Khazri who equalised for the hosts, also from the penalty spot (19', 1-1). Sainte-Etienne then took the lead courtesy of... Wahbi Khazri again (22', 2-1), this time with a lovely strike.Toma Basic hit the post from a free kick (45+1), but Bordeaux were still behind at the break.
Early in the second half the Girondins enjoyed a dominant spell, and Jean-Louis Gasset made some attack-minded substitutions. Nicolas De Préville, Hatem Ben Arfa and Jimmy Briand were sent on to replace Mehdi Zerkane, Rémi Oudin and Jean-Michaël Seri (67').
Wahbi Kazri then completed his hat-trick to effectively settle the game (70' pen; 3-1), before another former Bordeaux player - Zaydou Youssouf - completed a dour afternoon for the Girondins with the hosts' fourth goal (81', 4-1).
