Hwang strikes again!

After joining the club in the summer of 2019, the Korean forward scored six goals and provided two assists in his first season, cut short by the pandemic. Yesterday in Saint-Étienne, the striker stepped up to the responsibility of taking the penalty won by Mehdi Zerkane. He went left, with a perfectly-placed shot which sent the keeper the wrong way. Ui-Jo Hwang has already scored 11 goals in Ligue 1 this season, as well as providing two assists.

The centre forward is on a scintillating run of form, having scored five goals in the last four matches. A prolific goalscorer and tireless hard worker, the South Korea international is the first Bordeaux player to score more than ten goals in a season since Malcom (12 goals in 2017/2018).
