It's been almost a year and a half since Monaco visited Bordeaux. The last time the two clubs met at the Matmut was on 24 November 2019, when goals from Pablo and Nicolas De Préville helped the Girondins to a 2-1 victory in their 14th game of the Ligue 1 season. The return leg in Monaco never took place, since the last ten games of the season were cancelled on account of the pandemic.

In this year's title race, Monaco are still right in the mix. The home straight of a gruelling Ligue 1 season is always a time of great pressure, particularly when you are competing for the top spots. Monaco are currently in third place, and come to Bordeaux looking for more points to keep their title bid alive. And there is no denying that their recent form has been impressive: Niko Kovac's side have lost just one of their last 17 games.

Monaco's attacking line-up, led by Wissam Ben Yeder, is a formidable force, but don't underestimate their defence either. Since beating PSG 2-0 at the Parc des Princes on 21st February, Monaco have only conceded one goal in all competitions.

Bordeaux have lost to Monaco just once in their last four encounters, winning twice and drawing once. Earlier on this season, the Girondins suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat at Stade Louis-II, stunned by goals from Wissam Ben Yedder (27’), Gelson Martins (28’) and a brace from Kevin Volland (30’ and 57’).  But Monaco's record in Bordeaux is far from glittering: the Girondins have won 9 of their last 13 home games against ASM.
