Some stats after Bordeaux - Rennes

Goalie Benoit Costil made his 400th career appearance in Ligue 1 today. Since joining the club in 2017, he has played 154 games for the Girondins de Bordeaux. 

For the 13th time this season, Benoît kept a clearn sheet. This was also his 100th career clean sheet in the league! 

With a blistering left-footed strike, Sékou Mara got the only goal of the game (11’) and his first ever goal in Ligue 1 ! A graduate of Bordeaux's youth academy, this was just the sixth top-flight outing for the 18-year-old. Sékou is the youngest player to score for Bordeaux in Ligue 1 since Gabriel Obertan on 11 November 2007, also against Rennes.

Sékou's goal was also Bordeaux's 3700th goal in Ligue 1 ! Only Marseille (4076) and Saint-Étienne (3815) have scored more in the history of France's premier division.  Hwang Ui-Jo has been involved in 14 goals in Ligue 1 this season (11 goals, 3 assists), 6 more than any other Bordeaux player. 

Bordeaux now have some breathing room as the season nears its conclusion. The Girondins are currently in 15th place with 39 points, with just a few games left to play.

Having picked up bookings during today's game, both Mexer and Issouf Sissokho are now at risk of a suspension if they see yellow again before the end of the season.
