Julie Thibaud signs new contract with Bordeaux

Julie Thibaud will be staying with the club for three more years! The central defender has agreed terms on a new deal, which will keep her in Bordeaux until 2024. Born in April 1998 in Niort, Julie recently turned 23. She made her footballing debut with AS Échiré Saint-Gelais, in the Deux-Sèvres, leaving at 15 to join ASJ Soyaux.

Julie spent one season with the Soyaux U19s before making her D1 debut in 2014-2015. During her four years with the club she made 23 appearances for the U19s (scoring 1 goal) and played 41 matches with the first team (scoring 1 goal). She then moved to Bordeaux in 2017, immediately establishing herself as a pillar of the team. Over the past four seasons she has made 64 appearances for the Girondines (scoring 1 goal).

Julie is also a regular with Les Bleues. She was first called up to the France U19 squad, winning the European Championship in 2016 and losing out in the final the following year. She won a total of 34 caps at youth level (scoring 3 goals), and also starred for France B. She has become a regular fixture in the senior squad this season, although circumstances mean that she has not yet won her first full cap. This new contract is excellent news for the Club. At just 23, Julie has both a solid experience of the top level and the potential to improve further still. She recently picked up an injury, and will now be focusing on coming back stronger than ever next season.
