The Girondins de Bordeaux attended a meeting with the Federal Commission for the Supervision of Clubs (DNCG) on Friday 2 July 2021. On the agenda were two main items: (1) a presentation detailing the present financial situation of FC Girondins de Bordeaux and our budget forecasts for 2021-2022, and (2) a hearing for the new takeover project. The first part of the meeting made it clear that the Club is no longer in a position to cover its financial commitments since the withdrawal of the majority shareholder. The second part focused in detail on the takeover bid and assurances that the Club's financial commitments would be covered by the contributions of the new partners as per the terms of the agreement (or "Term Sheet") signed by Jogo Bonito, Fortress and King Street." Following these discussions, the commission ruled that the Girondins de Bordeaux should be relegated to Ligue 2 "on account of the withdrawal of the club's majority shareholder." Naturally, the Club will appeal this decision in order to give the new owners time to finalise their takeover, specifically the formal transfer of funds and the signature of all of the necessary paperwork, scheduled for 12 July. The FC Girondins de Bordeaux remain confident that the DNCG will approve the takeover, since no major concerns were raised with regard to the financial guarantees provided by the new owners. We are certain that this will be sufficient to ensure that the Girondins remain in Ligue 1.
